Summer Writers' Groups

Stay motivated on long projects over the summer.

Overview

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student working on a long writing project this summer? Wishing you could carve out time to write, or finding it tough to stay motivated? The Writing Center is here to support you!

This summer, we will coordinate small writers groups that will meet once per week for six weeks. Each three-hour meeting will begin with group goal-setting and include time to discuss progress, blocks, and staying on task. The bulk of each meeting, however, will be devoted to structured writing time so that writers can put words on the page and make substantial progress on writing projects in-progress.

Participants will:

  • Arrive to each session prepared to produce writing on the page
  • Contribute to supporting the other members of the writing group
  • Commit to regular attendance during a six-week summer period

Writing Center staff will:

  • Provide support and ideas for managing long-term projects
  • Lead group discussion about writing goals and strategies
  • Be available for one-on-one writing consultations during each session

Intended Audience

Undergraduate and graduate students looking to stay motivated on long projects over the summer.

Duration
